How we came to be what we are today
Eurostrand began life in Fintel in 1973, as a holiday village with an indoor swimming pool, restaurant and bowling alleys – founded by my parents Adele and Henny ter Huurne. After 20 hard-working and successful years they went into well-earned retirement in 1992, and a few years later they sold Eurostrand to me and my brother Ben ter Huurne. That same year we increased the bed capacity from 350 to 700 beds, transforming the former holiday village into the Eurostrand Resort Lüneburger Heide.
In 1996 we built the Eurotropic Hall, an event hall that can accommodate 700 people. But that certainly wasn’t the end of the story! The demand was so great that in 1997 we decided to build a second location in Leiwen: the Moseltal Resort in the Mosel Valley. This was opened just a year later, in 1998.
That same year my brother Ben ter Huurne decided to sell his shares in Eurostrand to me and to realise his long-cherished childhood dream in South Africa. And so I continued on my own path – with the support of a fantastic team. With the conversion of 700 bedrooms in each of the resorts, Lüneburger Heide and Moseltal, I then achieved 4-star hotel comfort for both Eurostrand resorts in 2005.
2013 saw the conversion and completion of our first First-Class Lounge in the Moseltal Resort, one of the biggest lounges in Germany – an event celebrated together with our guests and all 400 Eurostrand staff at the resort.
So I would like to express my deepest thanks to you, our esteemed guests and our expert staff, for your years of loyalty and for your great support.
André ter Huurne
